Pensioner prosecuted over Kettering town centre crash

Ernest Charles Howard, 82 and of Tresham Close in Kettering, has been charged with careless driving after the serious crash on August 13 in Gold Street.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was hit by a Citroen C4 near the parking bays just after 1pm.

Hide AdA quick-thinking soldier who was in the area came to his aid and used his belt as a tourniquet to stem the bleeding.
He later downplayed suggestions he was a hero.
The victim was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries where he had to have a leg amputated.
No court date has yet been set for Howard to face magistrates.
