The Poppies maintained their unbeaten start to the season by
claiming their first win with a 2-0 success at Cambridge United on Monday.

The U's had gone into that clash with a 100 per cent record.

But Westcarr marked his first start since re-signing for the club from Stevenage Borough with the opening goal as Kettering set about finally
ending a run of four successive draws with a victory.

The frontman was delighted to play such a big part. But he insists the players are now firmly focused on following up the win with another against Woking at the A-Line Arena on Saturday.

"It was all about getting three points because we hadn't been killing sides off. It was just a relief to get that second goal and finish the game," he said.

"Obviously we are not going to get carried away. But it was a great result for us.

"It's not about sending messages out. We are just focused on trying to get three points from our matches and it was great to do that on Monday.

"I think we can do better than just survive this season.

"If we can go to places like Cambridge and win, then it shows we are capable of competing with some good sides.

"We just have to move on now to Woking and try and follow it up
with another good performance and result."

Westcarr, meanwhile, insists he has had no problems with getting back into the swing of things with the Poppies and believes there is more to come from him as he continues to build up his sharpness.

He said: "To be honest it has been just like it was. I know all the lads so it hasn't been a problem fitting back in.

"For me it's all about getting some games under my belt and getting match-fit again.

"I am just trying to get my sharpness back and, hopefully, I can just do my bit to help the team.

"I am comfortable playing anywhere and I am happy to do any job the
manager wants me to do."
