Six-car pile-up shuts A14 in Northamptonshire for three hours

Police have revealed nobody was seriously injured in a pile up involving SIX cars on the A14 in Northamptonshire last night.
Traffic officers shut the westbound carriageway between Welford and Kelmarsh for three hours from around 5pm while they untangled the wreckage.

Hide AdFire crews from Desborough and Moulton freed one casualty who was trapped in their vehicle but a Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue spokesman said "Luckily there were no serious injuries."
Northamptonshire Police confirmed two Mercedes, a BMW 3 series, two Fords and a Citroen C4 were all involved.
The crash happened just hours after Northamptonshire Safer Roads Team revealed results of an enforcement visit to a stretch of the A14 near Welford.
The team clocked 26 cars over the 70ph limit — including one at 93mph — 42 goods vehicles over the 60mph limit, plus 25 drivers not wearing seatbelts.
